Welcome to your Daily Tech News with Big T. Today Big T talks about the new Apple TV and compares it to the new Roku movie/video streaming line of devices, Roku HD, Roku XD and Roku XDS. There are lots of similarities and differences between the AppleTV and the Roku devices. Both connect to the internet via your home wifi, can play 720p HD videos, have access to Netflix, Flikr and other media content. Differences between the Apple TV and Roku streaming devices is that Apple TV has a newer, fresher and easier to use User Interface (UI), the Apple TV is easier for customers to connect to their televisions via the HDMI cord, and Apple TV already has YouTube built in as a content provider. For the Roku devices, they do not offer YouTube as one of the main content providers, but the code for access to YouTube is available online. The Roku devices also require the user to connect to their computers and laptops to type in codes for each channel to be added to the device. But presently, Roku users have access to more channels and contents than what is available on the Apple TV. The Roku comes in three different models, the Roku HD (plays up to 720p HD video), the Roku XD (plays up to 1080p HD video), and the Roku XDS (plays 1080p HD video and has dual wifi bandwidth for clearer and smoother video playback).
